Aston Village History Trail

Aston on Trent has an amazing history going back 5000 years

The Local History Group offers small groups (maximum 25) an interesting, informal and personally guided tour lasting around one hour.

Starting from the village centre, your tour meanders through the village taking in many points of historic interest, interwoven with fascinating facts and anecdotal stories.

Learn about the mysterious Cursus and why the Anglo-Saxons settled here

Follow the fortunes of the Holden and Winterbottom families and their power base

Glimpse the harsh regime of Victorian education

Understand the importance of the lost great houses of the village

Did the FA Cup really come to Aston?

Appreciate the rural beauty of the surrounding countryside

Marvel at the splendour of All Saints’ Parish Church

All tours will be led by an experienced member of the Local History Group
