Aston on Trent is a rural village approximately seven miles to the south west of Derby City. It has around 1800 residents and is known for its energetic and socially dynamic approach to life. Over thirty social, learning and recreational groups prosper, providing activities and events for all ages from the very young to the young at heart.
Aston on Trent was mentioned in the Domesday book, is near the site of a Neolithic settlement and has a wealth of social and working heritage. Until the early twentieth century much of the village and adjoining land was owned by wealthy families.

Much of the village is now a conservation area and contains a number of old and fascinating buildings. The annual Well Dressing Festival every July brings many visitors to view the locally decorated tableaux and accompanying stalls and entertainment.
